I am a sociolinguist with a strong interest in the social psychology of language. I am particularly interested in societal multilingualism and related phenomena such as language attitudes, social identities, language endangerment, and language policy and planning.
Teaching
I have taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Linguistics at the University of Birmingham, a number of colleges of the University of London (Queen Mary, Birkbeck, and the School of Oriental and African Studies) as well as the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg in Germany.
I am now a Teaching Fellow in English Language at Liverpool Hope University.
