Welcome to the webpages of Dr. John Viles, Senior Lecturer in Biochemistry in the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences at Queen Mary, University of London.

The Viles Group is a biomolecular spectroscopy research group and the focus of our research is the structure, dynamics and metal binding properties of amyloidogenic proteins that are involved in neurodegenerative diseases, such as new variant Creutzfeld-Jakobs Disease (vCJD) and Alzheimer's Disease (AD).Our work is divided between studies of the Prion protein (PrP) and the Amyloid-beta peptide fragments. Using a range of biomolecular spectroscopic facilities available here at Queen Mary, University of London, we employ a multi-faceted approach to the properties of these important proteins.

Dr. John Viles is located in the School of Biological Sciences room 4.23.
The Viles Group are located in room 4.29 and room 4.16.
